THE XEROX CENTER FOR MULTICULTURAL TEACHER EDUCATION
(XCMTE): The XCMTE offers the opportunity for students to learn more about
multicultural education and urban education and to gain added volunteer
field experience in urban schools whose student populations reflect a variety
of cultures. The Center offers weekly seminars on a variety of topics
related to multicultural education. In addition, the XCMTE will work
with Center members to provide volunteer experience (once a week) in an
urban school classroom. Volunteers work individually with students,
assist teachers in teaching and preparation, serve as mentors to students,
etc. All volunteers must be willing to commit to once-a-week service
for a semester at a time. The XCMTE also sponsors, co-sponsors, and
hosts events throughout the year. The Xerox Center for Multicultural
Teacher Education empahsizes multiculturalism and the field of education
but is open to any student who wishes to participate.
