Academic Assistance
- TUTORING CENTER: The Department offers tutoring
for students in Socl 211 (Statistics for Social Research) and Socl 212
(Sociological Research). The service is provided by students and is
available by appointment or during scheduled office hours. (Please contact
J. Bearden or L. Meyer)

GROUP REVIEW: Group reviews are arranged by
faculty as needed. (Contact your professor to see whether
group reviews will be offered).

STUDENT MENTOR PROGRAM: The Department will try to
provide student mentors for all new sociology majors who wish to have a
mentor. (Please contact Sociology Department office (secretary)
for information).

DISCIPLINE-SPECIFIC PRESENTATIONS: The Department
offers colloquia (presentations) throughout the year on a variety of topics.
In addition, Alpha Kappa Delta (the Sociology honor society) sponsors
an annual Student Paper Presentation. (Contact the Sociology Department

CONFERENCE TRIP: The Department coordinates
an annual trip to the Eastern Sociological Society Meeting/Conference.
This event is sponsored by the Sociology Club. (Contact the Sociology Club

- DEPARTMENT NEWSLETTER: The Department coordinates
a student-written newsletter, published each semester. Contact Anne Eisenberg
for additional information.
Professional/Career Assistance

PROFESSIONAL/CAREER DEVELOPMENT MEETINGS: The
Department offers periodic meetings and additional advisement for Sociology
majors regarding career paths and curricular options. The Sociology
Club also hosts a graduate school night and a career night. These
events are open to anyone majoring in or seriously considering a major
in Sociology.

Additional Programs
RESIDENCE HALL PRESENTATIONS: The
Department will, on request, offer residence hall presentations on a variety
of topics, including AIDS education, date rape, and sexual assault.
