Helpful Terms to Know for Recruitment

What is Greek Recruitment? (Previously known as RUSH)

Greek Rush is a period of time in which students who wish to find out more about Greek Life can do so. Once these students sign up for rush they are referred to as "rushees". These few weeks known as Rush are an introduction to Greek Life during which rushees have a chance to meet various members from each of the Greek Organizations at SUNY Geneseo, hang out, ask questions and also decide whether or not sisterhood or brotherhood appeals to them.

How much does Recruitment cost?

Greek Rush is absolutely free!

What am I required to do if I sign up for Recruitment?

You are not required to do anything. Signing up for Recruitment simply gives you the opportuity to meet new people and make new friends. You are not obligated to attend any events if you wish not to.

When is Recruitment?

Greek Recruitment traditionally begins at the start of each semester. You can get a complete calendar of Recruitment Events by clicking the link above.

Why do I have to sign up for Recruitment?

The ultimate purpose of Recruitment is to allow Greek Organizations to recruit new members. The process of becoming a new brother or sister is called pledging, and to pledge an organization a student must meet certain guidelines required by the college. So, signing up allows the IGC Advisor, Wendi Kinney, to ensure that all Recruitmentees are in compliance with the guidelines set forth by the College. It also allows the IGC and the College Administration to track the interest and expansion of Greek Life at SUNY Geneseo. The personal information you provide to IGC will only be used to verify requirements that need to be met to pledge and will not be distributed or available for public viewing.

How do I sign up for Recruitment?

You can sign up for Recruitment by clicking on the link that will be on the IGC Homepage. If you plan to attend Recruitment you must sign up during this period. All you have to do is fill out the information. It is extremely easy and only takes a few seconds!

**All Students MUST bring their SUNY ID with them to all Recruitment Events**
