Guidelines

The goal of the IFS is to offer to students of SUNY Geneseo films and documentaries that emphasize diversity and multiculturalism, as well as a forum for open discussion after each presentation. It is clear, however, that only a collaborative effort of faculty representing all academic departments can ensure that IFS's programming is truly multicultural and diverse. Therefore, all faculty members are strongly encouraged to organize and host individual screenings and/or series of films at IFS.

Parameters for Hosting IFS Screenings and/or Series of Films:

  1. Submit to IFS's Committee a Proposal the semester before the date you plan to host your film(s). (Consult the Calendar of Events on IFS's Web page for auditorium availability.) Only alternative films that emphasize diversity and multiculturalism will be considered.
  2. A maximum of three (3) individual films or a series of three (3) films can be scheduled each semester by the same faculty member.
  3. Films proposed must articulate with and/or complement the content of one or more courses or a SUNY Geneseo academic program.
  4. Films presented by IFS must be open to the SUNY Geneseo academic body (Bailey Auditorium's seating capacity is 180).
  5. The faculty member hosting the event will present a brief, 5- to 10-minute introduction to set the context to the film's content, message and/or production. The faculty host will also encourage those present to stay for a discussion period after the film's screening.
