Geneseo’s Vision

Geneseo aspires to be the premier public liberal arts college in the country.

Geneseo’s Mission Statement

SUNY College at Geneseo, nationally recognized as a center of excellence in undergraduate education, is a public liberal arts college with selected professional and master’s level programs. It combines a rigorous curriculum and a rich co-curricular life to create an integrated learning-centered environment. The entire college community works together to develop socially responsible citizens with skills and values important to the pursuit of an enriched life and success in the world.


Division of Student and Campus Life

The staff of the Division of Student and Campus Life provides a variety of developmental services and programs that complement and support the academic mission of the institution and enhance the quality of campus life. Staff members strive to create a campus environment that invites diversity and encourages appreciation of individual differences.


The Vice President for Student and Campus Life provides leadership for the Division and supervises the following offices and programs: College Union and Activities, Career Services, Athletics, Sports and Recreation, Residence Life, Dean of Students, Judicial Affairs, Student Health Services, Counseling Services, Orientation/New Student Programs, Student Volunteerism, Service Learning, Leadership Development, Greek Affairs, Off-campus Living, and Multicultural Affairs.


Division of Student and Campus Life Mission Statement

The Division of Student and Campus Life has as its primary function the advancement of the mission of the College through the provision of a broad range of educational, social, and recreational programs, facilities, and fundamental services that foster the optimum living and learning environment on campus, facilitate the overall development of each student, and enhance the sense of community at the College.

Division of Student and Campus Life Goals

SUNY Geneseo students will assume responsibility for their own intellectual and social development.

SUNY Geneseo students will successfully complete the transition to college life.

SUNY Geneseo students will take full advantage of the opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom to learn from every member of the Geneseo community.

SUNY Geneseo students will successfully prepare for post-graduate educational and occupational opportunities.

SUNY Geneseo students will become more fully self-aware.

SUNY Geneseo students will develop a personal value system consistent with the ideals of ethical citizenship.

SUNY Geneseo students will grow in their social and communication skills as evidenced by their ability to live and work collaboratively with others, engage in respectful relationships, and assume shared responsibility for the common good.

SUNY Geneseo students will develop leadership skills, and apply them in both the collegiate setting and in their communities upon graduation from Geneseo.

SUNY Geneseo students will develop an understanding of the global nature of our society and the interdependency of all people, and will demonstrate appreciation of the similarities and differences we all embody.

SUNY Geneseo students will develop habits consistent with a healthy lifestyle.

SUNY Geneseo students will develop an interest in and an appreciation of the fine and performing arts.
