What is your general area of specialty or interest?
The social and interpersonal context of women's mental health.
What are your specific research interests?
I'm specifically interested in family and couple relationships and how those relationships influence women's emotional well-being.
What are your current active research projects?
Right now my students and I are starting our second year of a prospective study of first year college students transitioning to college. We're examining perceived social norms and how perceived social norms from campus may predict individual behavior. We've also recently begun a retrospective survey study comparing the situations within which and consequences of young women and men first experience partnered sex.
Would you be willing to work with students as assistants with your research projects at this time?
My lab is completely full right now (2009-2010).
Do you prefer to choose your research assistants yourself or are you willing to be approached by students?
I'm glad to be approached by students interested in working on research in my lab for at least 2 years.
In what aspects of your research are student assistants involved (e.g. data collection, data analysis, hypothesis formation, literature reviews, writing)?
It varies to some degree; some are involved in all aspects of the research process and work in a leadership role as project coordinators, whereas others focus on those aspects they most enjoy and assist the coordinators. However, all are involved with data collection and data entry and management, and most who work for 2 or more years have the opportunity to co-author posters for presentation or manuscripts.

Nothing comes to mind.
