Parking Lot "A"

The closure of "A" parking lot has been extended due to the installation of new fencing and concrete. It is hoped that the work will be done before Friday, August 26, 2011. Thank you for your patience.

Van Safety Training

Environmental Health and Safety is pleased to announce van safety training for faculty and staff wishing to use 12 passenger vans. Students and student workers are not eligible to drive 12 passenger vans for liability reasons.

Initial van safety class: 
The training will consist of classroom and hands-on training for approximately two and a half hours on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and is free of charge. Training will be held in the EHS training room in Holcomb 275.

Prior to completing the class, it is a requirement that individuals have a completed LENS (license event notification system) form submitted to the Facilities Services Department.

Refresher van safety class: 
For those already certified to drive a van, but whose certification has expired**, refresher training will be offered on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Training will be held in the EHS training room in Holcomb 275.

**Van certification needs to be renewed every 3 years.

IF YOU ARE MORE THAN 10 MINUTES LATE YOU WILL NOT BE ADMITTED TO THE CLASS

****Please note: If your van certification is greater than three years old and you have not attended a refresher class, you will be unable to drive a 12 passenger van.

Village Infrastructure project

The Village of Geneseo will continue the work on their infrastructure (water/storm and sanitary sewer) project past the start of our academic year. Based upon information shared during the project meeting today please expect the following impact over the next few weeks.

University Drive

  • Work will continue on University Drive between Main and Wadsworth Streets. While this will disrupt normal flow, access to "A" lot will be available most days from one but not all of the access points. In other words if access is shut off at Main Street please access "A" lot from either University or Wadsworth
  • There will be a total of 2-3 days during the project when "A" lot will be inaccessible as they work directly in the entrance and when paving underway. We will alert faculty and staff in advance of those days

Court Street

  • Work along Court Street will include storm and potable water connections and crossings. Impact on the campus beyond traffic restrictions will be the to parking in "E"" lot. At time a few spaces will be blocked off to allow the directional boring of lines under the road. Facilities will work with the Parking Office and Residence Life to facilitate this work.

Wadsworth Street

  • Final paving and landscaping will continue along Wadsworth Street

Training Opportunities for CSEA-represented Employees

The NYS & CSEA Partnership for Education and Training is pleased to announce the 2011 Skills for Success courses. Skills for Success courses provide CSEA-represented employees with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to accomplish job assignments more effectively.

The Skills for Success catalog contains course descriptions, dates, and locations. More than 100 classes are scheduled statewide from September 19, 2011, through December 15, 2011.
