Access control consists of electronic locks installed in all of our residence halls as well as other various locations across campus to ensure better security for the campus community. We currently use a software called B.A.S.I.S.® ET650 from Stanley Security Solutions.
Card access locks are deployed in the following departments: Athletics, Biology, Chemistry, CIT, Communications, Computer Science, Facilities Services, Geography, Geological Sciences, Physics and Residential Life.
BASIS G Magnetic SwipEThe BASIS G lock is used in residential spaces within Erie Hall, Seneca Hall and the Saratoga Townhouse complex. This lock works with a magnetic stripe on the back of the Geneseo ID card that is encoded upon check in. These locks also require the resident to enter a four digit PIN as well - this "dual authentication" prevents unauthorized access to a residence if a card is lost. | |
BASIS V Proximity LockThe BASIS V lock is used in academic and administrative spaces across campus. This is a proximity lock that utilizes the unique proximity number being broadcast by each Geneseo ID card. | ![]() |
