How To Apply for EOP
1. Students who submit an application to the State University of New York and who answer “yes” to the Educational Opportunity Program question (#31 on page A-3 of the application) will be considered Educational Opportunity Program applicants.
2. Applicants who are considered for admission to the College through EOP will receive a Supplemental Data Form and directions for completing and submitting all other required forms.
3. Applicants who satisfy the EOP Economic Guidelines (page 8) and answer questions 9a, 9b, 10a, 10b, 13 and 14 of the application will be considered candidates for admission through the state's Educational Opportunity Program (EOP).
4. Applicants who are considered for admission to Geneseo through EOP will be sent an EOP Part II (Supplemental Data Form).
5. Before an admissions decision is rendered, the following information must be filed with the AOP office at Geneseo:

A copy of economic section of SUNY Geneseo's EOPIF form;

A personal essay that discusses high school academic performance and potential to be successful at the four-year college level.

A confidential statement that discusses why/how academic performance has been affected by disadvantagement. (Optional, and if submitted, provide on separate paper marked "confidential");

A confidential EOP form which tells individual/family background.

All freshman applicants must be high school graduates or equivalent and must verify their graduation by submitting a high school transcript or GED score (note a score of 2,750 or higher is required). GED applicants must provide composite SAT scores and a high school transcript through their date of separation from high school. TOEFL scores may be requested from some applicants;

All transfer applicants must meet the minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA requirements, submit official transcripts and financial aid transcripts (from all previously attended colleges), be in good social and academic standing, and verify his or her EOP,HEOP, SEEK, College Discovery (CD), HBC college or designation as a Full Opportunity Program (FOP) student at a New York State college/university that does not sponsor one of the above programs;

A photocopy of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) , or copy of Student Aid Report (SAR).

Verification of household income (if dependent, must include all household income: 1040 tax return, social services verificiation, social security income for parents and step-parents or guardian, as well as the applicant)
6. When all of this information is received by the AOP office, a decision will be made regarding the student's admission.
All requested information must be sent directly to the AOP Dept. It is the applicant’s responsibility to follow up on requested information.
