2016 TOP Summer Program Information

Students are asked to arrive on campus between noon and 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2016, and may depart after 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 5, 2016. Note that any students who request earlier departure are still required to complete all assignments on their due dates.

Please read the following information and complete the necessary forms before Friday, June 10, 2016.

Under the Required Forms section, you will find three forms that must be printed, signed and sent to the address below or faxed to 585-245-5720. Please note that if you are already 18, the Parent Consent form will not be required.

The AOP Summer Orientation Data Form is an electronic form. You may click on it, answer the questions and hit submit at the end. This is the information we need to register you for the summer program, so make sure you answer all of the questions.

The AOP Student/ Parent Orientation Registration Form must be either faxed or mailed before the date of the orientation. Alternately, you may call the office at 585-245-5725 to let us know how many are coming.

Required Forms

PLEASE NOTE: If you have requested a seat on the chartered bus from New York City to Steuben Hall, SUNY Geneseo, the bus will be leaving 1 Penn Plaza, West 33rd Street, between 7th and 8th Avenue (near Madison Square Garden - Manhattan) at 10:00 a.m. on July 10. So plan to arrive at that location on Sunday, July 10 by 9:30 a.m. At the end of the summer program the bus will depart from Steuben Hall, SUNY Geneseo around 3:00 p.m. and return to the same location in NYC.


The participation fee for each session of the AOP Summer Orientation is $312.50 per week/per student* Fees cover all expenses, such as room, meals, course materials for Math and English, and academic advisement. All fees must be received no later than June 10, 2016 (unless you opt for the payment plan).  Make all checks payable to "SUNY Geneseo - AOP-SumPrg." Credit card payment can also be made by calling the Office of Student Accounts at (585) 245-5621.  Please make sure to tell them that you are making a payment for the 2016 AOP Summer Program. Note: A fee of $20 will be charged for any checks that are denied due to insufficient funds.

*If the cost of the 2016 AOP Summer Program presents an economic hardship for you and would result in your absence from the program, please email the director, Ms. DeBose at debose@geneseo.edu  and explain your situation. Every effort will be made to assist you.


Refunds are possible for non-Summer Orientation participants. Emergency situations will be reviewed by the Director of AOP. There will be a 5% handling fee assessed for any refunds; the deadline for requesting refunds is Friday, June 24, 2016. There is also a $20 fee charged for any checks which are denied due to insufficient funds.

Student Housing for Summer Program

All AOP Summer Orientation participants will be housed in Steuben Hall. Specific information regarding travel to SUNY Geneseo can be obtained by clicking here.  All information and necessary paperwork can be downloaded from this website.

Parent/Student Orientation

The AOP department will host a Parent/Student Orientation for NYC residents and surrounding counties. And there will be another for residents of Upstate New York and surrounding counties.  During this orientation, specific information of concern to parents and students regarding the AOP department will be discussed, and all questions will be answered. There is no charge for this AOP Parent/Student Orientation. The dates and locations for these testing and orientation sessions are as follows:

State University of New York College of Optometry, 33 W 42nd St, New York, NY 10036

  • Time: 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

*Students must bring a student ID to this testing location. Also no food or beverages will be allowed in the testing auditorium.


Monday, May 23, 2016:

SUNY Geneseo, Newton Hall, Room 201, 1 College Circle, Geneseo, NY 14454

  • Time: 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

What to Bring

  • A laptop and a flash drive for computer use
  • Financial aid paperwork (Copy of FAFSA, SAR, and TAP if applicable, housing forms)
  • High school transcripts and AP score reports, if available
  • Green Card or Alien Registration Card (INS verification) - copy only
  • College Required Health forms (unless already submitted)
  • A graphic calculator (TI-83, 86 or 89 preferred)
  • Pens, pencils, 81/2"x11" notebook (spiral bound), and book bag
  • Small fan (residence halls are not air conditioned)
  • An alarm clock
  • A cell phone or calling card(s)
  • Comfortable clothing and walking shoes
  • Bathing suit or swimming trunks and sunblock
  • Room linen (extra-long twin sheets), a light blanket and a pillow
  • A recyclable water bottle
  • Spending money for incidentals (e.g. snacks, souvenirs, etc.)
  • Toiletries and towels
  • Ideas, energy and enthusiasm!

If there is a conflict with your participation in the designated AOP Summer Orientation Program session, you must contact the AOP office and speak with the Director of AOP.
