Oswego, N.Y. – The Geneseo men’s swimming &
diving team (7-5), ranked 22nd by CollegeSwimming.com, posted a 146-139 win at
Oswego, buoyed by 10 first-place finishes.
Junior Brandon Peifer (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) swept the diving events, scoring
246.85 on the 1-meter board and 283.40 in the 3-meter competition.
The foursome of first year Kristian Tialios (Mount Tremper/Onteora), junior
Paul Jennings (East Northport/Elwood-John Glenn), first year Yonghoon Jun
(Nanuet/Tappan Zee) and senior Frank Schiappa (East Amherst/Canisius) won the
400-yard medley relay in 3:41.19.
Tialios placed first in the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.84), Jun won the 50-yard
freestyle (22.37) and Schiappa finished first in the 100-yard freestyle
(47.61).
Four other Knights were individual winners: first year Jordan Gay
(Henrietta/Rush-Henrietta) in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.25), sophomore
John Nasky (Rochester/Brighton) in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:03.81), first
year Justin Ongkingco (Watertown/Watertown) in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:21.82)
and Brian Yale in the 100-yard backstroke (55.32).
The Knights return to action Saturday, taking on Buffalo State in a meet at
the University at Buffalo.
