The host Geneseo Blue Knights won the team title with 23 points today at the 31st Annual SUNY Geneseo Cross Country Invitational at Letchworth State Park in Mt. Morris, New York. Hamilton College placed second with 82 points and LeMoyne was third with 109. The Blue Knights placed their top seven scoring runners in the top nine finishers as senior Alyssa Smith (pictured left) finished second in 22:39 to lead the way. First year Cassie Goodman was third in 23:03 and Geneseo took the 5-8 places. Junior Brigid Heenan ran 23:30, senior Ashley Jones posted 23:31, junior Emily Sullivan finished in 23:36 and junior Danae Polsin ran a 23:37. First year Alyssa Knott completed the Geneseo top seven by finishing ninth in 23:46. Houghton's Danielle Brenon won the individual title for the Highlanders with a time of 22:30 over the six kilometers and Emily D'Addario of William Smith finished fourth in 23:09. The Blue Knights travel to St. Lawrence on Saturday.
The Geneseo Blue Knights won the team championship at the 31st Annual SUNY Geneseo Cross Country Invitational today at Letchworth State Park by scoring 23 points. The College at Brockport scored 68 points and Hamilton finished with 93. Senior Lee Berube (pictured left) joined Geneseo's Matt Annabel '97 as three-time individual winners by covering the eight kilometers in 25:59. Senior Mark Streb was third for the Blue Knights in 26:23, senior Eddie Novara was sixth in 26:42, senior A.J. Corcoran placed seventh in 26:52 and senior Chris Carter completed the scoring five with a 12th place time of 27:04. First years Billy Gabriel and Cole DeClerk joined the top seven in 13th (27:05) and 14th (27:06), respectively. Geneseo alumni Tim Chichester was second in 26:00, Hamilton's James Grebey was fourth in 36:33 and Houghton's Stephen Hine ran fifth in 26:39. Geneseo travels to St. Lawrence on Saturday.
