Adrian, Mich. – The seventh-ranked Adrian ice hockey team (12-1)
beat #20 Geneseo (8-5-1) 3-1 Tuesday. The loss snapped Geneseo’s five-game
winning streak, which had been the second-longest stretch in the nation.
The Bulldogs scored the game-winning goal with 4:44 left in regulation, then
added an empty-net goal four minutes later.
Sophomore forward Justin Scharfe (Webster/Beidgewater Bandits) scored Geneseo’s
goal, tying the game with 6:23 remaining in the opening period. First year forward
David Ripple (Winter Springs, Fla./Coulee Region Chill) and senior forward Kaz
Iwamoto (Tomakomai, Japan/Wyoming Seminary) assisted on Scharfe’s goal, his
third of the season.
First year Nick Horrigan (Mount Forest, Ont./Elmira SugarKings) made a
career-high 25 saves after entering the game just 2:42 in.
