Rochester,
N.Y. – The Geneseo men’s track & field team competed at Rochester Institute
of Technology’s Early Season Open Thursday. No team scores were kept at the
event.
Sophomore Ryan Moynihan (Geneseo/Geneseo) recorded the Blue Knights’ top
performance, winning the 5,000-meter run in a time of 15:38.93. Geneseo posted second runner-up showings: junior
Tony George (West Seneca/West Seneca West) took second in the 1,000-meter run
(2:36.22) and junior Jake Pasanen (Troy/Averill Park) cleared 4.10 meters in
the pole vault.
Sophomore Billy Gabriel (Syracuse/West Genesee) finished third in the mile run
(4:30.08) and junior Nathan DeBouver (West Hurley/Onteora) placed fourth in the
1,000-meter run (2:37.38). Sophomore Phil Longo (Dansville/Dansville) collected
two top-10 finishes, taking fourth in the long jump (6.34 meters) and eighth in
the high jump (1.83 meters). Senior Brendan Murphy (Katonah/Iona Prep) was
fourth in the shot put (13.13 meters) and sophomore Luke Taverne (Vernon/Westmoreland)
finished fifth in the high jump (1.88 meters).
In the 400-meter dash, freshman Andrew Hayes (Hamburg/St. Francis) placed fifth
(53.45) and freshman Nicholas Posimato (Centereach/Centereach) posted a
fifth-place time of 7.35 in the 60-meter dash. Senior Nicholas Hoffman (Williamsville/Williamsville
South) was seventh in the 60 hurdles (9.25) and junior Liam Collins (Troy/Averill
Park) recorded the Blue Knights’ other two top-10 finishes; he was sixth in the
triple jump (12.90 meters) and seventh in the 200-meter dash (24.13).
The Blue Knights are idle until competing at the Spire Invitational Jan. 19.
