Cortland, N.Y. – Eight members of the Geneseo men’s cross
country team have earned State University of New York Athletic Conference
(SUNYAC) all-conference honors, including three who were named to the SUNYAC
Cross Country Hall of Fame.
Seniors Alex Brimstein (Webster/Thomas), Chris Mateer (Webster/Thomas) and Tom
Clark (Wantagh/Wantagh) and sophomore Ryan Moynihan (Geneseo/Geneseo) earned
first-team all-conference recognition with senior Tim Chambers
(Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker), junior Patrick Wortner (Dobbs Ferry), first year
Brenden Wortner (Dobbs Ferry) and junior Chris Moore (Syracuse/Westhill) named
to the second team. The top seven finishers at the SUNYAC Championships
comprise the first team with the second team composed of the next eight finishers.
Runners qualify for induction into the SUNYAC Cross Country Hall of Fame by
finishing in the top five, by finishing in the top 10 twice, or by finishing in
the top 15 three times. Brimstein, Mateer and Moynihan earned induction in the
Hall of Fame by virtue of their top-five finishes (Clark earned entry last year).
The Blue Knights, ranked fifth nationally, won their fourth straight conference title and 12th overall. Brimstein won Geneseo's fourth straight individual SUNYAC title, crossing the line in 26:25.08. Mateer and Clark took second and third place, with respective times of 26:26.45 and 26:32.47. Moynihan was fifth in 26:38.75 and Chambers placed ninth in 26:56.64. Patrick and Brenden Wortner finished 13th and 14th, respectively, in 27:04.68 and 27:10.28. Moore was 15th in 27:12.71.
