2011-12 SUNY Geneseo EquestrianThe SUNY Geneseo equestrian team became the 20th intercollegiate sport at Geneseo in 2004. Head coach Kim Sanford is a 1977 graduate of SUNY Delhi and begins her eighth season in 2011-12. In 2011-12,the women's equestrian team completed their eighth season of varsity competition by finishing third of 10 teams in the overall standings in zone two, region two of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association for Sanford. Geneseo finished second at their home show on November 13 and placed third in five of the nine shows this year. Sophomore Jordan Laux won first place in the Walk/Trot equitation to highlight the Geneseo performances at the 2012 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association regionals at St. Lawrence University and went on to finish 10th at the Zone championships at Skidmore. Senior Casey Williamson was third on the flat in the Intermediate class at the regionals and senior Katie Roberts was fourth on the flat in the Open equitation. Senior Holly Schimpf finished fourth over fences in Novice and was seventh on the flat, senior Ashley Grove was seventh in Walk, Trot, Canter and junior April Krenzer was eighth in the same class. In the season-long Cacchione Cup for Open riders, Roberts finished fifth, senior Julianne Pangal was sixth and junior Ryan Lefkowitz placed seventh.
