The Geneseo women's basketball team raced out to a 35-18 lead at intermission and cruised to their 13th straight win, 74-46 over visiting Potsdam tonight. Senior Alyssa Polosky led the attack with 14 points on 5-7 from the field, 2-3 from the arc and 2-2 from the line. Senior Kiki Campbell added 11 points and eight rebounds on 4-7 shooting and 3-4 from the line and sophomore Meghan Prue came off the bench to score 10 points, including 3-5 from long range. First year Lea Sobieraski hit 4-6 on her way to nine points, while senior Brittany Finkle contributed eight points, six rebounds and four assists and sophomore Melissa Graham added eight points, five caroms and five helpers. The Knights move to 17-2 overall and 12-0 in SUNYAC and host Plattsburgh on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Junior Jonathan Redlick scored a goal and an assist, including the game-winner with 7:15 to play on the power play to give the #7 Geneseo men's hockey team a 2-1 win over visiting Fredonia. After a scoreless first period, Fredonia got on the board at 3:45 of the second to take a 1-0 lead. Geneseo stormed back in the third frame as first year Rich Manley scored his 10th of the season on a 2-on-1 with Redlick at 3:31. Sophomore Colin de Jersey picked up an assist on the play as he fed Redlick in the neutral zone. On the game-winner, junior Danny Scagnelli fired the initial shot saved by the Fredonia goalie and first year Zachary Vit poked the rebound back to Redlick at the top of the left faceoff circle, where his high shot found the upper right corner. Sophomore Adrian Rubeniuk made 26 saves to earn the win, including a pair of Fredonia chances on the door step in the final minute. Geneseo moves to 14-5-2 overall and 8-3-1 in SUNYAC and host the Buffalo State Bengals on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Junior Ethan Estabrooks hit 6-7 from the field and 5-6 from the arc for 17 points and junior Mike Hoy scored all 16 of his points in the first half as the Geneseo men's basketball team defeated visiting Potsdam, 84-63. The Blue Knights hit 17-21 (81%) from the field and 7-9 (78%) from the arc in the first half on the way to a 44-28 lead at intermission. Sophomore Ryan Riefenhauser and first years Thomas Decker and Connor Fedge each scored 11 points as they combined for 12-15 from the field and 7-8 from the free throw line. First year Lamont Stokes added seven points, six rebounds and four assists as the Blue Knights move to 9-10 overall and 3-9 in SUNYAC. Geneseo hosts Plattsburgh on Saturday at 4 p.m.
