Morrisville,
N.Y. – The Geneseo ice hockey team (6-4-1, 5-1-1 SUNYAC) won its third straight
game Saturday, beating host Morrisville () 4-1 in a State University of New
York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game.
Sophomore Bryan Haude (Hilton/Hartford Wolfpack) stopped a career-high 41
shots, holding the Mustangs scoreless until a power play goal in the 54th
minute, and first year forward Devon Rice (Ottawa, Ont./Ottawa Junior Senators)
picked up a goal and an assist.
Senior defenseman Colin de Jersey (West Vancouver, B.C./Burnaby Express) got
the Ice Knights on the board after a scoreless first period, recording his
fourth goal of the season 5:16 into the second period off passes from Rice and junior
forward Carson Schell (Saskatoon, Sask./Nanaimo Clippers).
Seven minutes later senior forward Ryan Bulach (Kelowna,B.C./Trail Smoke Eaters) scored on the power play for his team-leading
fifth goal of the season. Junior forward Zachary Vit (Villanova, Pa./Green
Mountain Glades) assisted on Bulach’s goal; he took over the team lead in both
assists (10) and points (12).
Rice and junior forward Jonathan Sucese (Fairport/Northfield Mount Hermon)
scored third-period goals 1:11 apart. Rice’s second goal of the season gives
him a total of four points. Sucese’s goal was his third.
Junior forward Rich Manley (Buffalo/Burnaby Express) collected his ninth assist
of the season on Rice’s goal and first year forward David Ripple (Winter
Springs, Fla./Coulee Region Chill) assisted on Sucese’s goal, raising his
season total to five assists.
The Ice Knights continue SUNYAC play with a game at Brockport Friday.
