2011-12 SUNY Geneseo Ice HockeyThe SUNY Geneseo men's ice hockey team has been an intercollegiate sport since the 1975-76 season. Head coach Chris Schultz is a 1997 graduate of SUNY Geneseo and has a record of 67-57-5 in his five seasons. The program was started by Paul Duffy and has compiled a record of 497-448-55 in its 36 seasons.
In 2010-11, the men's hockey team posted a record of 16-8-2 for Schultz, who was named SUNYAC Coach of the Year for the first time. The Ice Knights finished the conference regular season with a second place record of 10-5-1 and fell in overtime to fourth-seeded, but #6 nationally-ranked, Plattsburgh in the SUNYAC semifinals, 3-2. Junior Danny Scagnelli collected third team All-America recognition by the American Hockey Coaches Association and first team All-SUNYAC after scoring 21 points on seven goals and 14 assists. First year Zachary Vit led the team with 13 goals and 22 assists for 35 points on his way to SUNYAC Rookie of the Year. Junior Jonathan Redlick and first year Rich Manley teamed with Vit to form one of the most potent lines in the conference. Redlick was an honorable mention All-SUNYAC choice after scoring 31 points on nine goals and 22 assists, while Manley scored 11 goals and 12 helpers for 23 points despite missing six games due to injury. Geneseo's second line of junior David Arduin, junior Stefan Decosse and sophomore Ryan Bulach scored nine goals, 11 assists for 20 points, 3-13-16 and 9-6-15, respectively. Sophomore Adrian Rubeniuk claimed honorable mention All-SUNYAC status as one half of the goaltending platoon after posting a 2.72 goals against average, a .910 save percentage and a 8-3-1 record in 682 minutes, while junior Cory Gershon went 7-5-1 with a 2.25 GAA and a single season record .921 save percentage in 800 minutes. 2010 second team All-SUNYAC pick Jake Yard added six goals and 11 assists for 17 points. | Team Links
