The SUNY Geneseo men's ice hockey team has been an intercollegiate sport since the 1975-76 season. Head coach Chris Schultz is a 1997 graduate of SUNY Geneseo and has a record of 51-49-3 in his four seasons. The program was started by Paul Duffy and has compiled a record of 481-440-53 in its 35 seasons.
In 2009-10, the men's hockey team posted a record of 13-10-2. The Ice Knights finished the conference regular season with a fourth place record of 9-6-1 and went 6-0-1 to close the season. Sophomore defenseman Jake Yard earned second team All-SUNYAC after finishing the season with four goals and 17 assists for 21 points, second best for a SUNYAC defenseman. Senior forward Dan Brown scored a team-high 14 goals with 10 helpers for 24 points on his way to honorable mention All-SUNYAC. Sophomore forward Stefan Decosse led the team in scoring with 27 points on eight markers and 19 assists and sophomore transfer forward David Arduin collected 25 points on 11 goals and 14 assists. Geneseo posted five others in double figures as first year phenom Kaz Iwamoto collected seven goals, 12 assists for 19 points, senior Phil Rose and sophomore Clint Olson scored 13 points each, senior Sebastian Panetta added 12 points and sophomore Jonathan Redlick had 10 points.
