Cortland, N.Y. – The Geneseo men’s basketball team (10-5, 6-2
SUNYAC) dropped a 79-73 decision at Cortland (11-3, 5-2 SUNYAC) Friday in State
University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play. Despite the loss the
Knights remain half a game ahead of Cortland and Plattsburgh (both 5-2) in the
conference standings.
Geneseo trailed by 17 points with 11:23 to go and pulled as close to six on
three occasions before the Red Dragons emerged with the win.
Sophomore guard Gordon Lyons (Amherst/Canisius) led the Knights with 17 points
and 12 rebounds. Senior forward Ryan Riefenhauser (Dobbs Ferry/Dobbs Ferry)
added 11 points and eight rebounds and junior guard Connor Fedge
(Bellport/Bellport) scored 15 points and led the team with four steals. Junior
forward Jordan Jones (Rochester/McQuaid Academy) netted 10 points and sophomore
guard Andy Drescher (Fayetteville/Christian Brothers Academy) finished with
nine points. Sophomore forward James McKenna (Huntingdon/St. Anthony’s)
contributed five assists.
The Knights return home for an 8 p.m. game against Oswego Saturday.
