GENESEO, N.Y. – The Geneseo men’s basketball team (16-9,
12-6 SUNYAC) closed out the regular season by throttling Buffalo State (13-11, 8-10
SUNYAC) Saturday in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC)
game.
The Knights will be the third seed for the six-team SUNYAC playoffs and host sixth-seeded
New Paltz in a quarterfinal game Tuesday at 7 p.m. The winner advances to play
second-seeded Plattsburgh Friday at 6 p.m. in the semifinals, hosted by
top-seeded Cortland.
Geneseo exploded out of the gates, opening a 30-point halftime lead. Junior forward
Gordon Lyons (Buffalo/Canisius) had recorded his ninth double-double of the
season, finishing with game-high totals of 18 points and 13 rebounds. Senior
forward Ryan Riefenhauser (Dobbs Ferry/Dobbs Ferry) also posted a
double-double, recording 12 points and 10 rebounds to go along with five
steals.
Sophomore guard Andy Drescher (Syracuse/Christian Brothers Academy) poured in
17 points off the bench and junior guard Connor Fedge (Bellport/Bellport) added
15. Sophomore forward Devon Anderson (Plattsburgh/Beekmantown) contributed six
rebounds and junior forward Jordan Jones (Rochester/McQuaid) matched a career
high with five assists.
