The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) released the current, and final winter, standings for the NCAA Division III Learfield Directors Cup and the Geneseo Blue Knights stand in 25th place of 281 scoring institutions with 314.50 points. There are approximately 440 institutions in Division III vying for Directors Cup points.
The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's NCAA Division III championship finish in up to 18 sports -- nine women's and nine men's.
Geneseo is ranked third of the New York State schools, up one spot from the fall, behind New York University (21st) and Ithaca (24th), but ahead of St. Lawrence (28), Rochester (30) and Cortland (31). The Knights received 50 points for a tie for 17th place in women's basketball, 46.5 points for 27th in women's swimming and diving, 40 points for 34th in men's swimming and diving and 30 points for a tie for 42nd place in men's indoor track and field. In the fall, Geneseo claimed 69 points for seventh place in men's cross country, 54 points for 12th place in women's cross country and 25 points for a tie for 17th place in field hockey.
The initial spring standings are scheduled for release on May 27, with the final 2010-11 standings coming out on June 17.
