The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) released the current, and final fall, standings for the NCAA Division III Learfield Directors Cup and the Geneseo Blue Knights stand in 22nd place of 181 scoring institutions with 148 points. There are approximately 440 institutions in Division III vying for Directors Cup points.
The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's NCAA Division III championship finish in up to 18 sports -- nine women's and nine men's.
Geneseo is ranked fourth of the New York State schools, behind Cortland (11th), St. Lawrence (14th) and New York University (17th), but ahead of Rochester (37), Hobart/William Smith (T59), Skidmore (T59) and Ithaca (65). The Knights received 69 points for seventh place in men's cross country, 54 points for 12th place in women's cross country and 25 points for a tie for 17th place in field hockey.
The initial winter standings are scheduled for release on March 17.
