GENESEO, N.Y. – The Geneseo women’s basketball team (8-3,
4-1 SUNYAC) won for the fourth time in five league games, beating visiting
Plattsburgh (7-4, 3-2 SUNYAC) 77-68 in State University of New York Athletic
Conference (SUNYAC) action Friday.
First year forward Allison McKenna (Huntington/John Glenn) scored a career-high
20 points to lead the Knights, making six of her eight shots from the floor and
all seven of her free-throw attempts. Her six rebounds and three blocked shots
were both game-high totals as well.
Sophomore forward Katie Peterson (Ithaca/Ithaca) added 12 points off the bench
and sophomore forward Shannon McGinnis (Walworth/Gananda) added 11 points and
six rebounds. Senior guard Melissa Graham (Orchard Park/Mount Mercy) collected
nine points, six assists, six rebounds and five steals. Sophomore guard Cara
Manfredi (South Glastonbury, Conn./South Glastonbury) scored 10 points.
The Knights closed the first half on a 19-7 run after Plattsburgh had closed to
19-18 with 6:48 left. They stretched their lead to as many as 18 points early in
the second period. The Cardinals cut Geneseo’s lead to six points with 5:20
left in regulation before the Knights pulled away for the win.
The Knights host Potsdam Saturday at 2 p.m.
