Clinton,
N.Y. – The Geneseo men’s track & field team competed at Hamilton’s Continental
Invitational Saturday. No team scores were kept. The Knights recorded 16 top-10
finishes, paced by sophomore Phil Longo (Dansville/Dansville), who won the high
jump by clearing 1.88 meters (6-2).
Longo also took third in the long jump with a mark of 5.95 meters (19-6 1/4).
Senior Brendan Murphy (Katonah/Iona Prep) was the runner-up in both the
35-pound weight throw (15.08 meters/49-5 3/4) and shot put (13.49 meters/44-3
1/4).
Three Knights were among the top six finishers in the pole vault. Junior Jake
Pasanen (Troy/Averill Park) placed second (3.95 meters/12-11 1/2), Joseph
Biscardi was fifth (3.80 meters/12-5 1/2) and Robert Coon finished sixth (3.35
meters/10-11 3/4).
Geneseo placed four athletes in the top eight in the high jump. Following Longo
were sophomore Luke Taverne (Vernon/Westmoreland), who cleared 1.83 meters
(6-0) to take third; first year Adrian Bergere (Bethlehem/Delmar), who finished
seventh with a mark of 1.78 meters (5-10); and first year Aidan Fullerton (Yorktown/Yorktown),
who placed eighth after posting a mark of 1.68 meters (5-6).
Fullerton and Bergere placed fifth and sixth, respectively in the long jump.
Fullerton’s performance was 5.87 meters (19-3 1/4) and Bergere jumped 5.82
meters (19-1 1/4). Fullerton also took sixth in the 60-metr hurdles (9.32).
Sophomore Chaz Abad (East Setauket/Ward Melville) finished sixth in the 5,000-meter
run (16:04.67).
Alex Hahn was seventh in the 60meter hurdles (9.41) and eighth in the 400-meter
dash (56.77).
Junior Bill Duncanson (Bemus Point/Maple Grove) rounded out the Knights’ top-10
performers, placing eighth in the weight throw (12.28 meters/40-3 1/2).
The Knights return to action Saturday, competing at the Brockport Invitational.
