2012 Geneseo Men's SoccerThe Geneseo men's soccer team has been an intercollegiate sport since 1947. Head coach Dominic Oliveri is a 2001 graduate of Geneseo and has a record of 15-17-5 in two seasons. The program was started by Robert Brown and has compiled a record of 438-419-81 in its 66 seasons.
The 2012 men's soccer team made the program’s 15th
consecutive trip to the SUNYAC playoffs, finishing the season with a 6-10-2
mark. The Knights were led by senior midfielder Alex Stephan and senior back
Pat Lynch, who both earned second-team all-SUNYAC accolades. Stephan scored a
team-leading nine points on four goals and an assist. Lynch led the team and
the conference with six assists. That total ranks eighth on the program’s
single-season list. Sophomore midfielder Richard Bellusci matched Stephan’s
team-leading total of four goals and junior forward Ryan Yurchak added three.
Senior Nick Voggel started 16 games in goal, posting 1.63 goals-against average
and recording 69 saves. The Knights secured their trip to the conference
playoffs by winning their last three SUNYAC contests; that streak included a
2-1 win at Plattsburgh, who had been 15-1 entering the match.
