2011 SUNY Geneseo Men's SoccerThe SUNY Geneseo men's soccer team has been an intercollegiate sport since the fall of 1947. Head coach Dominic Oliveri is a 2001 graduate of SUNY Geneseo and has a record of 9-7-3 in his one season. The program was started by Robert Brown and has compiled a record of 432-409-79 in its 65 seasons. The men's soccer team completed the 2011 season with a record of 9-7-3 for Oliveri. Geneseo finished 5-3-1 in SUNYAC play, good for third place and a trip to the conference tournament, where the Knights defeated #6 New Paltz in the first round before falling to #2 Brockport in the semifinals. Senior midfielder and SUNYAC All-Tournament pick John Piaggione was the lone player to earn first team All-SUNYAC after scoring three goals and two assists for eight points on the year. Senior forward Ian Mort collected his third All-SUNYAC certificate, a second team listing, after leading the team with 24 points on nine goals and six helpers, while junior defender Rob Loccisano claimed his first All-Conference award as he joined Mort on the second team. Senior Sam Murphy, junior Jop Smit and first year Neil Allen garnered third team All-SUNYAC. Murphy posted a 1.20 goals against average with six shutouts in playing all but 136 minutes, Smit, an exchange student from The Netherlands, mirrored Piaggione's statistics and Allen posted five goals and one assist for 11 points. Sophomore Ryan Yurchak scored 11 points on four goals and three assists and senior Colin Begy, a SUNYAC All-Tournament selection, added nine points on five goals and two assists. Seniors Nick Cava and Matt Solimano combined for 37 starts on defense for the Blue Knights, aiding the team to 1.21 goals against for the season.
