Four members of the Geneseo Blue Wave Swimming and Diving team traveled to the NCAA Division III championships in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Senior Sierra Achin, junior Michelle Rodriguez, junior Wills DeMoulin and first year Meghan Green competed Wednesday through Saturday. Geneseo's women finished 26th with 32 points in the competition, while DeMoulin garnered seven points for a 46th place result.
Rodriguez, who was seeded 15th, earned the 11th All-America certificate of her career after finishing 11th in the 500-yard freestyle with a SUNYAC-record time of 4:57.63, good for honorable mention All-America honors. Green, who was seeded 25th, placed 44th in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:09.33 in the morning preliminaries.
DeMoulin finished 19th in the three-meter diving event with 347.30 points.
Rodriguez improved her 14th seed by nine spots in earning first team All-America honors in the 200-yard freestyle with a fifth place finish in a SUNYAC-record time of 1:50.25. In other action, Green placed 32nd in the 400 IM with a time of 4:41.60 and Achin placed 46th in the 100 fly in 1:03.87.
DeMoulin earned honorable mention All-America for the second straight year on the one-meter board by finishing 10th with a score of 449.35. Achin, who was seeded 36th, placed 27th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:07.28.
Rodriguez earned her third All-America certificate of the championships with a seventh place and school-record time of 51.16 for first team honors in the 100 freestyle and Green placed 24th in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 17:42.17. Rodriguez has 13 overall national awards in her three seasons.
