Cortland, N.Y. – First year David Ripple (Winter Springs, Fla./Coulee Region
Chill) and senior Adrian Rubeniuk (Grandview, Man./Dauphin Kings) have been
honored by the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC. Ripple
was named Ice Hockey Rookie of the Week and Rubeniuk was selected Goaltender of
the Week.
Ripple, a forward, totaled five points as Geneseo swept #4 Plattsburgh
and Potsdam. He assisted on the second goal in Friday’s 3-2 upset of the
Cardinals. Ripple then recorded a career-high four points in Saturday’s win
over Potsdam. He assisted on the first two goals and then closed out scoring in
the third period with an assist on one goal and scoring the last.
Rubeniuk stopped 43 of 45 shots (93.3 percent) in Geneseo’s two wins. He
stopped all nine shots in the win over the Cardinals, playing the first 22:52
before leaving with an injury. Rubeniuk made 34 saves in Saturday's win over
Potsdam (his season-high for a regulation game), including 16 with the Bears a
man-up as Geneseo killed off all six Potsdam power plays.
