The SUNY Geneseo women's softball team has been an intercollegiate sport since the spring of 1976. Head coach Tony Ciccarello is a 1979 graduate of Brockport and has a record of 236-155 in 10 seasons. The program was started by Karen Drysdale and has compiled a record of 530-409 in its 36 seasons.

In 2011, Geneseo posted a record of 19-19, placed fourth in the SUNYAC conference with a 10-8 mark and were knocked out of the SUNYAC playoffs by top-seeded Cortland in the second round for Ciccarello.  Junior shortstop KK Schaus earned NFCA second team All-Northeast Region and first team All-SUNYAC recognition after leading Geneseo with a .409 batting average (38-93) with four doubles, three homers, 15 RBI and team-highs of 10 walks and six stolen bases. Senior Janine Montera earned first team All-SUNYAC after posting a 13-10 mark with a 2.15 ERA and 134 strikeouts in 156 innings in the circle. Montera finished her stellar career third in strikeouts (418) and fifth in wins (39) on the Geneseo charts. First year Sam Trapasso posted a spectacular inaugural season by hitting .351 (34-97) with a team-high 13 doubles, three homers and 15 RBI, while senior Megan Pogemiller completed her career by hitting .340 (34-100) with nine doubles, a team-leading five homers and 13 RBI, along with finishing second on the career chart with 874 putouts. Sophomore transfer Jane LePage hit .311 with a team-high 19 runs, 10 doubles and 12 RBI and sophomore Lexi Williams paced the team with 16 RBI with three homers.
