The men's indoor track and field team traveled to Brockport today for a non-scoring meet. Geneseo had five competitors win their event as junior Nwana Okafor posted an ECAC-qualifying distance of 6.76 meters in the long jump, senior Eric Rickman won the shot put with a toss of 14.79 meters and recorded an ECAC-qualifying mark of 38.35 meters in finishing second in the discus, senior Jon Brotsch took the 400 meters in 50.14, Greg Izzo won the 400 hurdles in 57.47 and Nicholas Hoffman posted a distance of 13.15 meters in the triple jump. Senior Niko Brown placed second in the javelin with a throw of 45.38 meters and Dave Szymkowiak ran second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:07.96. This week, Geneseo hosts the Geneseo Open on Saturday.
The women's outdoor track and field team participated in a non-scoring meet today at Brockport. Senior Brittany Talani led a strong finish by the throwers by winning the discus in 34.03 meters and finishing second in the shot put with an ECAC mark of 11.66 meters. Senior Maria Barbaglia placed scond in the discus in 34.03 meters and qualified for the ECAC meet with a toss of 44.05 meters for a fourth place mark in the weight throw. Geneseo's Julie Cook won the high jump with a leap of 1.55 meters.
