2011-12 SUNY Geneseo Men's Swimming & Diving
The SUNY Geneseo men's swim team has been an intercollegiate sport since the 1962-63. Head coach Paul Dotterweich is a 1997 graduate of Buffalo St. and has a 100-7 record in 11 seasons. The program was started by David Carrington and has compiled a record of 405-194 in its 49 seasons. In 2010-11,the
Blue Wave highlighted Dotterweich's 11th year at the helm by finishing 34th at the NCAA
Division III Swimming and Diving championships as five members of the team
qualified for the national meet. Senior Wills
DeMoulin earned his third All-America certificate with an 11th
place result on the three-meter board and the 200-yard freestyle relay team of
juniors Andrew Kuter, Dan Strothenke, Aaron Wagner and sophomore Frank
Schiappa, who set a school record in the 100 free (46.21), placed 13th for honorable mention status after setting a school record (1:23.24) at the
Kenyon Last Chance meet. Geneseo posted an undefeated dual meet season (12-0)
and the team's 13th consecutive SUNYAC championship and 18th title in the last 22
years by scoring 854 points to runner-up Cortland's 674. At the SUNYAC meet,
DeMoulin earned Diver of the Meet recognition after winning both boards and
sophomore Austin Brennan claimed
Swimmer of the Meet for taking the 100 butterfly and 200 backstroke. Schiappa
(50 free), Strothenke (100 free), junior Nate
Foley (500, 1,650 frees), junior C.J.
Schaub (100 breast in school record 57.10) and junior Ken Pink (200 IM, 200 breast) joined DeMoulin and Brennan as first
team All-SUNYAC selections. The Blue Wave posted four individuals on the
All-SUNYAC second team, including senior Jeremy
Boyce and juniors Josh Kaplan, Jeff Singer and Wagner. Dotterweich
claimed his fifth SUNYAC Men's Coach of the Year award. The women's swim team has been an intercollegiate sport since the 1970-71 season. Dotterweich has a record of 95-11 in 11 seasons. The program was started by Eleanor Graham and has compiled a record of 368-68-2 in its 41 seasons. In 2010-11, Dotterweichmentored the women's
swimming and diving team to their fourth consecutive SUNYAC championship and a
27th place finish at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving
championships in his 11th season. At the national meet, senior Michelle Rodriguez earned three
All-American certificates, first team in the 500-yard freestyle and honorable
mention in the 100 and 200-yard freestyles, becoming the most decorated
student-athlete in Geneseo history with 16 national awards. Rodriguez posted
SUNYAC records in the 200 (1:50.14) and 500 (4:56.22) freestyles and a school
record for the 100 (51.08) freestyle at the NCAA meet. At the SUNYACs,
Rodriguez earned Most Outstanding Swimmer and the Grace Mowatt Award for career
achievement after winning the 100, 200 and 500 freestyles, while sophomore Kaitlin Wilcoxen
joined her on the All-SUNYAC first team after winning the 200 breast. Geneseo
totalled 771.5 points to defeat second place New Paltz's 664.5. Seniors Jennifer Anthone and Kelly Battaglia, sophomore Meghan Green and first years Lauren Boyce and Lily Powell earned second team All-SUNYAC. Geneseo posted a record
of 10-2 during the dual meet season. | Team Links
