Head Coach Paul Dotterweich Head coach Paul Dotterweich is in his 10th season at Geneseo in 2009-10. Dotterweich has added to the storied Blue Wave tradition by leading the team to SUNYAC titles in six of nine seasons for the women's team and all nine seasons for the men (11 consecutive). In addition, Dotterweich was recognized by his peers by being named the SUNYAC Men's Coach of Prior to Geneseo, Dotterweich guided his alma mater, the Buffalo State Bengals, for three seasons. Dotterweich is a 1997 graduate of Buffalo State, earned the Kissinger Student-Athlete Award and was the first recipient of the McDermott Award for dedication to the Buffalo St. swim program. Assistant Coach Dan Allen Assistant coach Dan Allen begins his third season with the Blue Wave in 2008-09. A standout for Geneseo after transferring from Indiana University, Allen participated in the 2004 NCAA Division III national championships, was a 13-time SUNYAC champion and was named the 2005 SUNYAC Championship Most Outstanding Swimmer. Allen held the school record in the 50 freestyle and was part of the school record holding 200 and 400 freestyle relays upon his graduation. In addition to his coaching duties, Allen aids Dotterweich in coordinating all aspects of the aquatics program at the college. Allen worked the 2007 University of Texas swim camp, where he coached alongside several Olympic gold medal swimmers and United States Men's Olympic head coach Eddie Reese.
Diving Coach Shawn Austin Diving Coach Shawn Austin is in his second season at SUNY Geneseo in 2008-09. Austin brings with him nine years of coaching experience at Naples Central School, where his divers have won SCSL championships every season and Section V class D championships five consecutive seasons. Three of his athletes have qualified for the state championship meet. Austin’s other coaching experience includes two seasons at Alfred University (2002 – 2004) and six years as Head Coach of Finger Lakes Diving (2002-present). He has had nine Section V champions, four state meet qualifiers, numerous NNYDA league champions, one Region 2 champion, four USD East National Championship qualifiers, four AAU National Qualifiers, and an Empire State Games Silver Medalist. Three of his athletes have gone on to compete at the NCAA Division I level. |
