The men's indoor track and field team traveled to the Rochester Institute of Technology tonight for a non-scoring meet and senior Wenley Louis highlighted the performances by winning the long jump with a leap of 7.18 meters, which is tops in Division III for the 2011-12 season, and placing third in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.11 seconds. Junior Alex Brimstein won the mile run with an ECAC-qualifying time of 4:19.60, which is the top time in NCAA Division III this season. The Blue Knights saw three others claim second places as senior Mark Streb ran an ECAC-qualifying time of 2:32.91 in the 1,000 meters, senior Greg Izzo ran 8.75 in the 60-meter hurdles and junior Nwana Okafor posted the third best long jump in Division III with a distance of 6.96 meters. A trio of competitors finished third for Geneseo as Alex Belensz finished the mile in 4:31.44, Liam Collins leaped 13.45 meters in the triple jump and Brendan Murphy posted a 14.26 meters in the weight throw. Geneseo is off for the semester break and returns to action on Saturday, January 14 at RIT.
The women's indoor track and field team competed at the RIT Early Season Open and Keira Wood, Cailin Kowalewski and Mary Aldridge highlighted the meet by finishing 1-2-3 in the 1,000 meters with times of 3:01.89, 3:03.43 and 3:05.60, respectively. Geneseo's Diahann Cuevo placed second in the 200 meters in 28.11 and third in the 60 meter dash in 8.26 seconds. The Blue Knights had four individuals place second tonight as Kelly Brunscheen ran 1:02.02 in the 400 meters, Esther Lok crossed at 5:29.86 in the mile run, Rachel Serpe cleared an ECAC-qualifying 3.20 meters in the pole vault and DD Yanoti jumped 10.22 meters in the triple jump. First year Molly McGaley ran a 9.99 to finish third in the 60-meter hurdles. The Blue Knights are off for the semester break and compete at RIT on Saturday, January 14.
