Junior Kayla DeAngelis scored three goals to lead the visiting Geneseo women's field hockey team to an 8-1 win over Morrisville this afternoon as the Blue Knights recorded their third straight win. DeAngelis scored three times in the opening 12 minutes of play and then assisted on Rachel Atkins goal at 18:10 as Geneseo posted five goals in the first half. Junior Margaret Girardi completed the first half scoring on an assist from Ashley Favata for her first career goal and opened the second half scoring on a penalty corner assist from Atkins. Geneseo sophomore Alyssa Jerge netted her first career score on a scramble in front at 58:46 and first year Sarah Malinak got her first career goal just 46 seconds later by dodging through the defense. Morrisville scored their lone goal with just 1:27 to play. First year Dayna Mercer got the win in nets by making one save in the first half, while senior Caitlyn Dowell stopped two shots in the second half. Geneseo moves to to 4-3 overall and 2-0 in SUNYAC play and hosts St. Lawrence on Saturday at 1 p.m.
