Cortland, N.Y. – Two members of the Geneseo men’s soccer
team (6-10-2, 4-3-1 SUNYAC) have been named to the State University of Athletic
Conference (SUNYAC) all-star team. Senior midfielder Alex Stephan (Clarence/Clarence)
and junior back Pat Lynch (Canandaigua/Canandaigua) were both second-team
selections.
Stephan, a first-time SUNYAC all-star, was Geneseo’s leading scorer. He started
17 matches and recorded nine points and four goals and an assist. He scored a
pair of goals, including the game-winner, in the Blue Knights’ victory over
Clarkson. In 61 career matches, Stephan scored 13 points (five goals, three
assists).
Another first-time all-league pick, Lynch played in 16 matches, starting every
one. He led the team and the conference with six assists. That total ranks
eighth on the program’s single-season list. He’s played in 44 career matches,
collecting eight points (one goal, six assists).
The Blue Knights reached the SUNYAC playoffs for the 15th consecutive season.
