2012 Geneseo VolleyballThe volleyball team has been an intercollegiate sport since the fall of 1971. Head coach Jen Salmon is a 2002 graduate of Ithaca and has a record of 64-82 after four seasons. The program was started by Joyce Wechsler and has compiled a record of 752-644 in its 41 seasons. In 2011, Geneseo posted a record of 17-19 for Salmon, finishing in third place in the SUNYAC West with a 5-3 mark and falling to New Paltz in the first round of the SUNYAC tournament. Senior middle Kat Strickland earned first-team all-SUNYAC honors after leading the Knights with 351 kills, 63 blocks, a team-high 42 service aces and a .281 hitting percentage. Strickland finished her Geneseo career fourth in blocks (375), eighth in kills (948), 12th in service aces (115) and 15th in hitting percentage (.199). Junior libero Laura Galvin and sophomore setter Noelle Morrison garnered second-team all-SUNYAC recognition. Galvin led the team with 563 digs and moved into second all-time at Geneseo with 1,345, while Morrison handed out a team-best 927 assists with 205 digs, 23 aces, 23 blocks and a .282 hitting percentage. Sophomore outside Ronnie Guszcza contributed 231 kills and 32 aces, first year middle Jessica Prater contributed 190 kills and 33 blocks and senior defensive specialist Alex Hughes totalled 227 digs. Sophomore outside Alex Wende posted an impressive 121 kills (2.63 per game) in just 46 games in 13 matches before a season-ending injury and first year Julia Gangloff dished 212 assists with 37 aces.
