2011-12 SUNY Geneseo Women's Basketball

The SUNY Geneseo women's basketball team has been an intercollegiate sport since the winter of 1974. Head coach Scott Hemer is a 1995 graduate of St. Bonaventure and has posted a record of 62-47 in four seasons. The program was started by Joyce Wechsler and has compiled a record of 519-368 in its 37 seasons.

In 2010-11, the women's basketball team highlighted the Geneseo winter sports season by compiling a 26-4 record, the SUNYAC regular season and tournament championship and a berth in the NCAA Division III tournament for Hemer. Senior Alyssa Polosky collected honorable mention All-America, second team All-ECAC and first team All-SUNYAC after pacing Geneseo's balanced attack with 11.0 points per game with a school record 56 blocks, which made her the Geneseo career leader with 106. Junior Bri Dunton averaged 9.2 points and 3.7 assists on her way to second team All-ECAC and first team All-SUNYAC recognition. Geneseo won the regular season with a 17-1 SUNYAC record and defeated Brockport, Cortland and Oneonta in the conference tournament behind Most Valuable Player Brittany Finkle and All-Tournament selections Melissa Graham and Khadija Campbell. Geneseo qualified for the national tournament for the first time since 1997 and defeated DeSales University in the first round, before falling to Babson in the second round. Campbell, a senior and second team All-SUNYAC choice, combined 9.7 points with a team-high 7.7 rebounds, senior Finkle added 9.2 points, 6.7 rebounds and a team-best 69 steals and Graham, a sophomore, combined 9.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, 69 assists, 48 steals and 35 blocks. Junior Katelyn Charbonneau contributed 5.4 points in 18 minutes per game off the bench. The Blue Knights finished sixth in FG% defense, 27th in scoring defense and 46th in rebound margin in the NCAA Division III standings. Hemer collected SUNYAC and Division III Region 2 Coach of the Year recognition.
