Senior Stefan Decosse scored a goal and two assists to lead the Geneseo men's hockey team to their fifth consecutive win as they defeated the visiting Hobart Statesmen, 6-2. The Ice Knights rolled to a 4-0 lead with three goals in the first period and one early in the second frame before Hobart connected on a pair of power play scores to cut the lead to 4-2 with 7:31 left in the second. Geneseo would tack on two more goals before the end of the period to complete the scoring. Sophomore Zachary Vit opened the scoring at 11:49 of the first from classmate Carson Schell. Senior Jonathan Redlick made it 2-0 on a pretty tic-tac-toe play with Ryan Bulach and Danny Scagnelli at 12:56 and senior Clint Olson finished the first frame scoring with his fifth of the year on a wrister in the slot from Brandon Angotti and Redlick. The first period was halted with 4:19 to play when a pane of glass in the Hobart bench area shattered on a check. The teams broke for the intermission, played the final 4:19 of the first and then immediately continued with the second period. Decosse scored at the 2:03 mark, first year Justin Scharfe scored his first career goal from Decosse and Jimmy Powers at 16:48 and senior Jake Yard finished the scoring at 18:39 from Decosse and David Arduin. Junior Adrian Rubeniuk made 28 saves in posting the win as the Ice Knights advance to 10-6-0 on the season. Geneseo hosts Western New England on Friday at 7 p.m.
