
Junior David Arduin earned SUNYAC Men's Ice Hockey Player of the Week as announced by the State University of New York Athletic Conference on Monday, January 31. Arduin scored a pair of power play goals in the 4-1 win over Morrisville, which vaulted Geneseo into second place in the SUNYAC.
The Geneseo Ice Knights advanced three spots to #7 in the latest USCHO.com Division III Poll with 154 points. Geneseo stands at 13-5-2 after defeating Morrisville on Saturday, 4-1. The Ice Knights host Fredonia on Friday at 7 p.m. and Buffalo State on Saturday at 7 p.m.
The men's indoor track and field team rose eight spots to #4 with 99.04 points in the latest USTFCCCA Division III poll. The women's team, unranked last week, moved to #13 in Division III with 47.29 points in the poll.
The women's basketball team appeared at #3 in the initial NCAA East Region rankings as announced by the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Medaille College earned the top spot with the University of Rochester second. The SUNYAC posted the next four of the six positions with New Paltz at #4, Oneonta at #5 and Cortland at sixth. The Blue Knights have won 12 straight to go 13-1 in region contests and 16-2 overall with seven games remaining until the conference tournament. The regional rankings are one criteria used by the national selection committee when determining participants for the NCAA Division III tournament.
