GENESEO, N.Y. – The Geneseo women’s
basketball team (5-1, 1-0 SUNYAC) opened conference play by steamrolling
visiting Cortland (3-4, 1-2 SUNYAC) in a State University of New York Athletic
Conference (SUNYAC) game Tuesday. The Blue Knights held the Red Dragons, who
missed 16 of their first 18 shots, to 10 first-half points.
Sophomore forward Shannon McGinnis (Walworth/Gananda) scored a game-high 13
points and added seven rebounds. First year forward Allison McKenna (Huntington/John
Glenn) added 10 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots. Junior forward
Lea Sobieraski (Lockport/Lockport) added 10 points off the bench.
Sophomore guard Cara Manfredi (South Glastonbury, Conn./South Glastonbury)
scored nine points and collected four rebounds and three assists. Senior guard
Melissa Graham (Orchard Park/Mount Mercy) and sophomore guard Biz Reinhardt (Rochester/Hilton)
added eight points apiece. Graham and first year guard Dana Cohan (Rochester/Greece
Athena) both had four of Geneseo’s 21 assists.
The Blue Knights continue SUNYAC play Friday with a 6 p.m. game at Oneonta.
