Oneonta, N.Y. – The
Geneseo women’s basketball team (6-1, 2-0 SUNYAC) remained unbeaten in
conference play, beating host Oneonta (4-5, 1-2 SUNYAC) 49-39 in a State University
of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game Friday.
The Blue Knights held the Red Dragons to 23.7 percent shooting from the floor
(Oneonta missed 44 of 59 shots) and outrebounded them 39-22.
Sophomore forward Shannon McGinnis (Walworth/Gananda) recorded a third double-double
for the third time in four games, scoring a team-high 16 points and pulling
down a career-best 15 rebounds.
First year forward Allison McKenna (Huntington/John Glenn) pulled down 11
rebounds – one short of her career high – and added eight points (including a
pair of three-point baskets) and a pair of blocked shots. Senior guard Melissa
Graham (Orchard Park/Mount Mercy) scored 11 points and first year guard Amelia
Heiselman (Central Square/Bishop Grimes) led the Blue Knights with four
assists.
Geneseo continues its SUNYAC road weekend with a 2 p.m. game at New Paltz Saturday.
