
2011 SUNY Geneseo Women's Soccer
The SUNY Geneseo women's soccer team has been an intercollegiate sport since the fall of 1981. Head coach Nate Wiley is a 1999 graduate of SUNY Geneseo and has a record of 66-37-10 after six seasons. The program was started by Fred Bright and has compiled a record of 357-185-48 in its 31 seasons. The 2011 women's soccer team finished
with a 14-4-2 record for Wiley, with a fifth place mark of 5-3-1 in SUNYAC. Geneseo defeated #4
Oneonta by a score of 1-0 in the first round of the SUNYAC tournament and fell to
top-seeded Cortland in penalty kicks in the semifinals after a 0-0 draw. The Blue Knights placed four players on the All-SUNYAC team
with senior forward Anne Beinetti
and senior midfielder Bre Glynn
appearing on the first team. Beinetti set a school record with 17 goals and
tied the school mark with 38 points on the season, while Glynn scored one goal
and four assists for six points. Senior Kelly
Bergin earned second team All-SUNYAC after combining nine goals with five
assists for 23 points. Geneseo saw sophomore defender Olivia Panepinto claim third team All-SUNYAC after leading the
defense to a 0.68 goals against. Junior midfielders Emily Novak (4g, 3a) and Shannon
Spusta (3g, 5a) added 11 points each and senior forward Melanie Rocchio had four goals and two
helpers for 10 points. Sophomore goalie Julia Sanger, who joined Panepinto on
the SUNYAC All-Tournament team, posted a 0.73 goals against average with eight
shutouts in playing all but 113 minutes in net. | Team Links
