In Brief:
Professor Markulis has been awarded several grants to teach and present seminars abroad. In 1994 and again in 1996, he served as a visiting scholar at the Riga Business School, in Latvia, where he taught courses on information systems and presented workshops on entrepreneurship. He has also presented several workshops and seminars on entrepreneurship in the Republic of Hungry. Recently, he was awarded a grant from the Coleman Foundation to offer an innovative course on entrepenuership at SUNY-Geneseo. He has also published several case studies in the field of strategic management, and has won awards for some of his cases.

Dr. Markulis has a strong commitment to quality teaching. A statement from his recent dossier for full professorship states: At Geneseo, I have tried-and I believe with a great deal of success-to develop in the students two things. 1.) a high level of knowledge and skills-in the theory as well as the practice of management, and (2) a sense of intellectual curiosity about their discipline as well as the ability to step back and critique the very discipline in which they seek to establish a professional career. I believe I have high expectations for my students and expect them to reach and stretch beyond merely the basic material required in the course. I believe my students understand this, although they do not seem to always appreciate it until after they graduate.
