Career Planning

Whether you are a current student or an alum, it is never too late to explore career options!  Please take advantage of the expertise available to you through the Office of Career Development by making an appointment with a member of our staff at 585-245-5721.  We house an excellent Career Library here in our office (Blake A 104), and subscribe to several excellent online career resources that are available to current students and alumni free of charge.

Here are a few resources to get you started:

Career Assessments

Strong Interest Inventory:  An online career assessment that produces a list of occupations that you might find satisfying based on your responses to 291 questions about your interests.  A follow-up appointment with a Department of Career Development counselor is necessary to help you understand your results.

SIGI-3:  An online program that integrates self-assessment with in-depth and up-to-date career information that is easy to use and provides the user with a realistic view of the best career options for future success.

My Next Move:  a cool new resource from the U.S. Department of Labor that will allow you to research careers and browse industries based on your interests.
