an important announcement to the community

On November 18, 2010, students, faculty, and staff in the Department of Communicative Disorders and Sciences, along with the greater college community, were informed by the President of SUNY Geneseo that in an effort to close a 7.2 million dollar college-wide budget deficit, the undergraduate and graduate programs in Speech-Language Pathology (along with two other academic programs) were being "deactivated." Due to these actions we will no longer be admitting new students to either the undergraduate or graduate programs. Those students who are currently enrolled will be afforded the opportunity to finish out the program and earn their degrees. Faculty and staff in the program have been deeply moved by the outpouring of support received from students, alumni, clients of the Speech, Language and Hearing Clinics, the greater Geneseo community, and those in the profession. Having educated students and served the community for over 50 years, we are truly disheartened by this abrupt and unexpected decision. If you have any questions regarding academic programs at Geneseo, contact Dr. Savi Iyer, Associate Dean of the College by phone at 585-245-5541 or by email.
