Recommended Hardware

CIT provides the following recommendations for your computer purchases. Please review this information and contact the CIT HelpDesk (x5588, helpdesk@geneseo.edu) if you have any questions or are uncertain of the specifications of a system.

Supported Vendors:

CIT recommends Apple Computer and HP for computers and Hewlett Packard (HP) for printers. We have state contract pricing and relationships in place with these vendors to receive replacement parts and service very quickly. Furthermore, we are very familiar with these models and their capabilities. Purchasing hardware from these vendors will greatly enable us to support you better as well as reduce your potential downtime.

Please contact CIT before purchasing if you are considering a vendor other than HP or Apple so that we can assist in configuration and provide realistic service expectations. We are unable to perform warranty or hardware repairs on computers manufactured by other vendors. CIT does not provide hardware or software support for custom-built computers.

Printer Recommendations:

All purchases of print output devices, and related supplies, are standardized according to the College's contract for printing equipment and print management services. For more information, see the Print Optimization Policy at http://www.geneseo.edu/webfm_send/5105 or contact your TSP.
