Publish a video

Once you've created a video you're going to want to share it with the world, or at least your small part of it. The two best options for publishing videos are the ubiquitous YouTube and Ensemble Video, a service SUNY Geneseo subscribes to.

YouTube and Ensemble Video both:

  • Allow content to be embedded within myCourses
  • Allow content to be embedded within webpages (e.g. Drupal)
  • Are excellent ways to share student video assignments
  • Have a 2 GB files size limit on video uploads
  • Free and easy to use service
  • Mechanisms for dealing with copyright
  • For videos less than 15 minutes in length
  • Students can upload videos at any time
  • Doesn’t necessitate a Geneseo account
  • Comprehensive mobile support
  • More options for sharing (e.g. social media)
  • Geneseo contracted service
  • Intended for user-created intellectual property
  • For videos of any length*
  • Professors can establish dropboxes to receive video assignments
  • Tied to Geneseo account
  • iOS mobile support
  • Greater publishing control (e.g. publishing calendars)
