Center for Community

The Center for Community, located on the third floor of the MacVittie College Union, encompasses the following offices:

Dean of Students

The Dean and his staff work directly with students to assist them in adjusting to college life and in resolving problems and conflicts that may arise during their undergraduate careers.

fraternal Life

The Assistant Dean works with the College's recognized fraternal organizations by providing advisement, resources, and programmatic support.

Student Conduct and Community Standards

The Dean of Students and the Assistant Dean for Student Conduct and Community Standards preside over the College's conduct system.  The College's conduct process includes education to assist individuals and groups in gaining self-awarenss of the consequences of their actions, and to help increase interpersonal competence through a mature acceptance of responsibility.

Leadership and Service

The Associate Dean administers leadership and service programs to prepare students for college and community leadership roles and responsibilities, and is the manager of the GOLD Leadership Program.

Multicultural Programs and Services

This office coordinates services and activities which promote the full range of human diversity by working with students, faculty, and staff.  The office also provides support to students of diverse backgrounds as they transition into the campus community.

Off Campus Living

The Assistant Dean provides programs, services and resources to all students residing, or interested in moving, off campus.

Orientation and First-Year Programs

The director and student staff coordinate orientation programs each semester.  The office also provides continuing programs during the first year on campus to foster transition to the Geneseo community.

Student Volunteerism and Service Learning

The Coordinator seeks out, develops, and maintains quality volunteer opportunities that offer Geneseo students meaningful cocurricular experiences, growth, and experiential learning.

AmeriCorps VISTA

The VISTA works closely with the Livingston County Office for the Aging coordinating three projects with Geneseo students.  The projects include a daily hello calling program for homebound seniors, a backpack lunch program for K-12 students who can't afford lunch outside of school, and working with local food pantries.
