Professor Russell joined Geneseo's Department of Computer Science in 2008. Prior to that he taught for a year as a visiting professor at Colby College in Waterville, Maine.  He received his Ph. D. in computer science from Boston University in 2008.  After receiving his Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Hamilton College in 1992 he earned an M.S. in Applied Mathematics at Northwestern University, worked in industry for a small database consulting company, worked briefly as an independent consultant, and taught English conversation in Japan for the Nova Group.
