All day and evening classes and activities at SUNY Geneseo are canceled for Wednesday, March 12, due to the winter storm. Essential employees are required to report to work, but advised to exercise proper judgment driving in today's weather. Essential employees who anticipate a late arrival are asked to contact their supervisor or office.

Professor Shin joined Geneseo's Computer Science department in 2001. He worked in industry for almost a decade (Eastman Kodak Company as Research Scientist and Software Architect from 1987-1990, Xerox Corporation as Knowledge and Software Engineer from 1990-1994, and Xerox Palo Research Center as Consultant from 1996-1997). He earned a Bachelor's degree (B.B.A.) in Business Administration in 1984 from CUNY Baruch College and is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma. He earned an M.S. from SUNY Buffalo in 1986 and a Ph.D. from University of Maryland at College Park in 2000 both in Computer Science. His areas of research include document image analysis, image databases, and document image retrieval and classification. His interests also include object-oriented design and programming languages, multimedia processing, e-commerce, and mobile application development.
